Series Records

The University of Arizona rugby club was established in 1969, and in the early going, played primarily against club sides. It was not until the mid-70’s that the team switched to a predominance of matches of other colleges. (In the late 1970’s the team stopped scheduling clubs altogether.)

The following records indicate matches played since 1974. The University of Arizona played Arizona State University more times than any other (55 matches). Cal State University Long Beach built up the heaviest deficit for Arizona. The 49ers lead the series 30-12. After 28 matches over the past 26 years, the University of Arizona and University of California Santa Barbara managed 14 wins apiece.

All matches for the purpose of these records represent games of Arizona’s First XV as opposed to junior varsity or developmental teams representing Arizona that may have played varsity teams from other school.
